Large stretch of sand, behind which lies area of dunes and forest. Walks through forest and the peninsula island of Llanddwyn (which isn't an island!), continuing round to Malltraeth Sands (SH3966) or the other way out to Abermenai Point (over 3 miles of sand in total). Car park and picnic benches. Toilets.
Parking close to beach - often used for board sailing, kite surfing, swimming and sea kayaking.
Easily the best beach on Anglesey for walks (enjoyable even in the worst of weathers)nature lovers and historical interests - probably the most beautiful spot on Anglesey.

Best section of coastline in Anglesey (to Rhosneigr) for surfing - also popular with kayakers and boardies.

Great section of coastline for surfing (best on Anglesey), also popular for kayaks and windsurfers.

Long stretch of sand bordered by dunes and RAF Valley. Noise from RAF Valley may be outweighed if you are interested in watching the planes.
Access is down a long uninspiring track. On the north is the tidal flow that cuts Holy Island from Anglesey so strong currents are found near this beach - be very careful.

Small beach. Attractive but with some shingle and a large caravan park very close by! Noise from planes. Part of Anglesey Coast path.

Small sandy bay. Some stones and rock pools. Three small sandy bays close by. Toilet, some parking butseveral caravan parks locally so they could be full. Narrow road access. Pub half mile from beach. Part of coast path.
Trearddur Bay SH255788
Small sandy bay surrounded by rocks. Facilities in village but limited parking. Beach is big enough to still be good in this busier part of the island.
Great area for kayaking, sailing, sea level traversing and snorkelling.The coast immediately to the south is beautiful - a rocky indented coastline with small sandy coves and ideal for the above activities.
Newborough - South East SH414628
Free carpark - take turning off roundabout before Newborough. Bird hide with lake. Walk through Newborough Warren - horses roam here. Good winter days walk - continue to Newborough beach and Llanddwyn Island.
Rhosneignor SH316732
Lovely beach with some rocks, rock pools and islets in the sea.
Popular for board sailing etc with shop, hire and instruction available close to the beach. Good for surfing, kayaking and sail boarding. Planes from RAF valley can be heard here. Facilities in the village.
Small river makes it difficult to get to Cirgyll beach from here.
Llanddwyn Island SH385625
Continuation of Newborough beach. Several sandy coves. Small display of old pilot's cottages. Part of longer walk with great views of the mountains, Newborough and Maltraeth beaches.
Maltraeth SH642385
Long sandy beach backed with dunes and conifer forest. Less busy than Newborough in summer. A walk through Newborough Warren, Newborough beach, Llanddwyn Island, Maltraeth and back through the woods will take up to four hours and is wonderful!
Aberffraw SH355676
One of the best local sandy beaches. Verge parking just outside Aberffraw, walk along small river for half a mile to a beautiful sandy beach - very safe for small children. Ice cream van on road in summer. Shop and pub in village.
Great walk back through dunes from far end of beach - pansies in Spring, a barn owl has been seen here late afternnon , at which time you will also see hundreds of rabbits. One of Pete's favourites.
Area of Special Scientific Interest.
Also support tea room run by local charity, Menter Mon, on North side of village, bicycles for the family can be hired here and there is a signed route on the local roads.
Coastal path goes along north side of river - bit less than an hour to Porth Cwyfan where there is an old church on a peninsula - worth the walk.

Lots of rocks, weed and rock pools. Enough sand to sit on, okay for paddling but not ideal for swimming.
Main reason is to visit the chapel on the peninsula - a beautiful spot.Can walk here from Aberffraw.

Not the best of beaches - continuation from Rhosneignor and part of coastal path. Some parking close to road and some rock pools.
Abermenai Point SH442454
The beach to the north west of Abermenai Point is beautiful sand at all but high tide and much quieter than Newborough beach, of which it is a continuation. Beautiful pebble beach around Abermenai point. Free parking just past Pen-lon and at low tide a walk through the tidal inlet (or around at high tide).
Port- Cadwaladr SH362663
Two beautiful sandy bays just south east of Aberffraw. Best to walk in along SE edge of Aberffraw dune area where there is limited parking.
Porth-Twyn-mawr SH365655
Four beautiful small sandy beaches between Aberffraw and the Cefni estuary at Malltraeth sands. There is a fifth and last beach whish is not so good. Walk in from Aberffraw. Please keep away from this area when birds are nesting as it is an important site.
