Meirionydd
This forthcoming guidebook will be a totally new area; making
more geographic sense than the old guides. It will combine the
well-known areas of the Moelwyn and what was previously known
as Central Wales (Cader Idris & Cwm Cywarch). The area will
also include emergent climbing areas such as the Rhinogau (not
Rhinogs please!) and the cliffs around Arennig Fawr. This is indeed
a vast area, there is no one central point of activity - accesses
to various cliffs are quite seperate.
More information will be added to this section in the future.
Moelwyn
The main centre is the old slate town of Blaenau Ffestiniog; there
are numerous areas now, with recent developments. However, for
the traditional climbing areas above the road to Llyn Stwlan,
the parking is dicey - do not leave valuables in your car and
make the car look empty. Numerous break-ins have occurred here.
Dyffryn Lledr (Lledr Valley)
With many small outcrops the area is a hidden treasure trove of
esoteric gems.

Aran
The climbing on Aran is mainly based upon Gist Ddu. Access has
been a problem here - more info soon.
Craig Cwm Cywarch
Beautifully located at the head of Cwm Cywarch, this vast cliff
is home to a number of fine routes. Some of the routes have a
big feel to them, being exposed and on almost virgin territory;
they don't seem like paths. Plenty of parking can be found down
at the 'common' but take care not to offend by bloking access
tracks or gates - this area has had access problems in the past.
Cader Idris
The northern scarp of Cader Idris is an imposing feature, dominating
the skyline when heading south towards Dolgellau. Most of the
easier routes are to be found on Cyfrwy and are best accessed
along the Fox's path starting from the Gwernan Lake Hotel at OS
Ref. 704 159. Mynydd Moel & Twr Du can also be accessed from
here.
Craig Cau has changed a great deal in recent years; many modern
developments have taken place here - more info soon. The easiest
access is from the Idris Gates parking area at OS Ref. 734 115
