Fell Running

Fell Running

Llanberis is an ideal starting place for a wide variety of running routes. The cycle track along the side of the lake is both beautiful and flat! A circuit around the lake or over Clegir (take the road opp. Pete's Eats) and down through Cwm y Glo are both about 5.5 miles and guaranteed to make any city runner jealous.

Routes up the three mountains surrounding Llanberis can be found - Snowdon, along the Moel Elio ridge, or up onto Elidir.

Pete was an active runner for 15 years and enjoyed all these routes from his front door! If you are not familiar with local conditions take particular notice of the weather - heat as well as cold, wind, rain, snow and mist can all bring potential dangers.

In between there are many variations using local paths and tracks - more than enough to satisfy everyone. Within a short drive many other opportunities open up - mountain runs, beach runs, forestry runs.

For the competitive many races are held locally. The most well known are the Snowdon Race, the Snowdonia Marathon and new to Llanberis this year the Iron Man.

Details of most of these events can be found on the local club's (Eryri Harriers) website - www.eryri.org.uk.
